QR Codes

Connectify Hotspot shows a QR code that phones and tablets can scan to join your hotspot. A QR code (short for "Quick Response") is a kind of bar code that a phone's camera can read. Connectify's code holds your hotspot's name and password, so a phone that scans it can join without finding the network in its list of Wi-Fi networks and typing the password. Just scan and tap!

Where to find the QR code

The QR code is on the Hotspot screen while your hotspot is running. Click Start hotspot, and the code appears next to the Network name and Password, under Scan to join.

• The QR code is shown only for a Wi-Fi hotspot. A Wired router or a Wi-Fi repeater has no code to scan.
• If you change the hotspot name or password (Edit hotspot, then Apply and restart), the QR code changes to match.

The picture above is a real code, for a hotspot named "Connectify-Me". Go ahead and point your phone's camera at it. In a second or two it should offer to join the network. Of course, there's probably no hotspot named "Connectify-Me" near you, so it won't be able to connect.

Printing or sharing the QR code

Earlier versions of Connectify Hotspot had a "Save as..." link under the QR code. Connectify Hotspot 27 doesn't. To print the code, put it on a flyer or send it to someone, take a screenshot of it: press the Windows logo key + Shift + S and select the code. The code stays right as long as you don't change the hotspot name or password.

How to scan a QR code

iPhone or iPad, with iOS 11+

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Hold your device steady so that the QR code appears in the picture in the Camera app. The app will draw a box around the QR code when it recognizes it, and a notification offering to join the hotspot will pop up at the top of the screen.
3. Tap the notification to join the hotspot!

Android 10+

1. Open the Camera app.

Windows

To join from another Windows PC by scanning the code, you can install a free app like Wi-Fi QR Code Scanner from the Microsoft Store.
