Read the following guide thoroughly before trying this procedure. It is intended for those who were able to access the internet on their hotspot computer prior to installing Connectify Hotspot for the first time or an update for Connectify Hotspot. If at any point your setup deviates from this description, please stop and reverse the steps you have performed
Does your internet connection appear to not be working after installing or upgrading Connectify Hotspot? Does your internet connection work as soon as you uninstall Connectify Hotspot? Performing the following procedure may help to resolve this issue for you.
First, ensure that the latest version of Connectify Hotspot is installed and running and that the hotspot computer is properly connected to the internet. Your browser may not work and you may not be able to ping internet hosts, so as long as your adapter(s) appear to be connected to the internet, that is enough for now.
If you are running Windows 7, press the Start button and click on Control Panel. Next, click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and finally on the left side click Change adapter settings.
In the Network Connections window that opens up, right click on the network adapter that is currently connected to the internet and select Properties.
Near the top of the list of items the connection is using you will see "Connectify LightWeight Filter", which should be checked at this time.
Click the checkbox next to Connectify LightWeight Filter to clear it and press the OK button.
Now, open your web browser and navigate to a page that you know should not be cached and receives constant updates. If you get the latest version of that page, then your internet connection appears to now be working properly. At this point however, with the Connectify Lightweight Filter unchecked, you won't be able to use this adapter as an Internet to Share or Share Over device.
Once your internet connection is again working while Hotspot is installed, you will need to re-check the box next to Connectify LightWeight Filter and click OK. It will take a few seconds for the UI to refresh and show whichever adapter you performed this procedure on in the Internet to Share and Share Over drop down lists. At this point, you will want to check again if you can browse to a website successfully. If so, restart your computer, try to start a hotspot and connect your devices to it, and see if they can access the shared internet connection as well. If not, then you may have another issue beyond the scope of this article.
NOTE: This procedure can be performed on whichever adapter is being used as the Internet to Share or Share Over device.
