How to Connect your Windows PC to Internet via Wi-Fi

With Connectify Hotspot installed on your PC laptop, you can easily share Internet from your wired Ethernet, 3G, or 4G LTE USB stick as Wi-Fi, so your Windows PC and other devices can get online, no matter where you are.

Sharing an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection as Wi-Fi works on every edition, including Hotspot Lite (free). Sharing a 3G/4G connection that Windows lists as cellular or mobile broadband needs Hotspot PRO or MAX.

Start a Connectify Hotspot

Step 1: Open Connectify Hotspot. On the Hotspot screen, under Create a, choose Wi-Fi hotspot. The three choices are:

Wi-Fi hotspot: create a Wi-Fi hotspot and share your Internet connection via Wi-Fi.
Wired router: share your Internet connection over wired Ethernet (Hotspot PRO or MAX).
Wi-Fi repeater: extend the range of a Wi-Fi network (Hotspot MAX).

Step 2: Under Internet to share, choose your 3G or 4G device or Ethernet connection. The icon next to each connection shows what kind it is, and connections that aren't online show a No internet tag. Learn more about what to choose for Internet to share.

Step 3: Set a Hotspot name and a Password of at least 8 characters. The hotspot name is what your devices see when they look for Wi-Fi. On Hotspot Lite (free), the name starts with "Connectify-". Your Connectify Hotspot is a real, working hotspot that you use just like any other wireless network.

Optional: turn on Block ads on the Protection card. It blocks ads for every device on your hotspot, with nothing to install on them, and can save you a lot of data. Ad blocking works with Routed network access. Learn more about the ad blocker in Connectify Hotspot.

Step 4: Click Start hotspot to begin sharing your internet connection with your other devices.

Connect your Windows PC to Connectify via Wi-Fi

Step 1: On the Windows PC you want to connect, click the network icon at the right end of the taskbar and make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. On Windows 11, click the arrow next to the Wi-Fi button to see the list of networks.

Step 2: Once the list of available Wi-Fi networks populates, you should see your hotspot's name. Connect to that network by clicking it.

Step 3: Make sure you put a check on Connect automatically if you don't want to retype the Connectify Wi-Fi password every time you're connecting to the hotspot, then click Connect.

Step 4: You will be prompted for the password that you gave your Connectify Hotspot. Enter your password to connect.
