How to Setup Connectify Hotspot

On the Hotpot UI you can choose to create a…

  • Wi-Fi Hotspot: Clicking this button will create a Wi-Fi hotspot allowing you to share your connection via Wi-Fi.
  • Wired Router: Clicking this button will allow you to share your connection over Ethernet.
  • Wi-Fi Repeater: Clicking this button will allow you to extend the range of a Wi-Fi network.

How to Setup a Wi-Fi Hotspot

Under the ‘Internet to Share’ adapter select the adapter that’s connected to the network. Connectify Hotspot will share this adapter’s Internet connection.

This adapter could be a USB modem, a tethered cell phone, an Ethernet connection, or even a wireless connection.

  • For ‘Network Access’ you can select Routed or Bridged. Selecting Routed is just the default process of which traffic flows through Connectify normally. Selecting Bridged will allow devices connected to the Hotspot network to communicate with the ‘Internet to Share’ network.

When in Bridge Mode Hotspot does not run a NAT or DHCP server as opposed to Routed. All clients connected to the Hotspot while in Bridge Mode will request to get DHCP from the ‘Internet to Share’ network.

  • Finally, set a ‘Hotspot Name’ and ‘Password’ for your Wi-Fi network and then click start Hotspot to begin broadcasting your network.

How to Setup a Wired Router

Under the ‘Internet to Share’ adapter select the adapter that’s connected to the network. Connectify Hotspot will share this adapter’s Internet connection.

This adapter could be a USB modem, a tethered cell phone, an Ethernet connection, or even a wireless connection. When selecting the ‘Internet to Share’ adapter it is important that you choose the correct adapter or you could run into an error when trying to start your wired router.

  • The ‘Share Over’ adapter should be your Ethernet adapter. If you have multiple Ethernet adapters on your computer, be sure you are selecting the right one. It is not possible to have the same Ethernet adapter selected as the ‘Internet to Share’ adapter and ‘Share Over’ adapter. You will run into an error.

How to Setup a Repeater

Wi-Fi Repeater mode can only repeat Wi-Fi networks that you are connected to if they are using WPA2 encryption. Simply select the network you wish to repeat and then click the ‘Start Hotspot’ button.
